Front Cover Image
A special edition in our God’s BIG Story series, The Girl Who Grew Up to Be Queen celebrates the life and faith of Queen Elizabeth. Using Happyland children’s toys from The Early Learning Centre it explores the question, ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ Children meet Muick the Corgi who tells us about his special owner and what she wanted to be. With lots of guessing and dressing up opportunities we explore how we can all be princes and princesses, children of The King.

Included with The Girl Who… Muick Says Goodbye

In The Girl Who Grew Up To Be Queen we met Muick, one of the Queen’s corgis. Muick told us all about his special owner, Queen Elizabeth, and how her special friend, Jesus, helped her to be Queen.

As we saw in The Girl Who Grew Up To Be Queen, Queen Elizabeth loved animals and had corgis as pets for a long time. In 2015 her last corgi died, and Queen Elizabeth decided not to have any more because she was getting old and didn’t want to leave any behind when she died. Then along came Covid-19, lockdown and the death of her husband, Prince Philip. Seeing that the Queen was lonely, her family bought her two new corgis; one of them was Muick.

In 2022 the time came for Muick to say goodbye to his special owner, Queen Elizabeth. So, let’s go back to Muick and let him finish the story of The Girl Who Grew Up To Be Queen.

How do you say goodbye?

You might say the words, maybe you wave, or even draw a picture. We can say goodbye in lots of ways. Maybe you can think of some. Saying goodbye isn’t easy. Have you ever been upset when you’ve had to say goodbye to a friend? I have.

Queen Elizabeth was my friend, and she was Jesus’ friend too. Queen Elizabeth’s friend, Jesus, helped her to be Queen for 70 years. That’s a long time! It might even be older than your granny or grandad!

One day when Queen Elizabeth was 96 years old, she died, and I had to say goodbye to my friend. It was hard knowing that I would never see her again. I miss going on walks with her. I miss hearing her voice call my name. I miss her stroking me, and I really miss the biscuits she used to feed me! I miss my friend, Queen Elizabeth, but she still has Jesus as her friend.

Queen Elizabeth doesn’t live in Buckingham Palace anymore, but she does live in heaven with Jesus who is King of the whole world. Queen Elizabeth might not live with me and wear her crown anymore; but King Jesus has given her a new crown in heaven, alongside him. Now my friend, Queen Elizabeth, and many other people, are princesses and princes in Jesus’ Kingdom.
